This episode of Good News for Today is about: “Where are you today? Are you headed where you want to go?” Our discussion is based on the time when Peter wanted to walk on water (in Matthew 14:25-31) and on Psalm 37:4. God gives us the desires of our hearts. Here’s how to move forward into what God has given you the desire to do.
Video Excerpt:
I love to pose this challenge. If you want to walk on water, you’ve got to get out of the boat. And not be afraid to get your sandals or your feet wet.
Matthew 14:25-31 brings to mind three questions. First question is: Where are you? Second question: Where have you been? Third question: Where are you going?
This scripture passage is about walking on water. Terry and I are former boaters, and so we’re going to give you a little bit of nautical knowledge so that when you go and evangelize your friends that are boaters; maybe you can use this as an analogy. In the boating world there’s something called “underway” and “making way.” They sound very similar, don’t they? What’s the difference between them?
Well, “underway” is when you’re not tied to the pier, you’re not having an anchor in the water, you haven’t run aground. You’re just floating around in the water. You’re not attached to anything that could immobilize you to keep you from movement.
“Making way,” by contrast, is when you’re being propelled through the water. You’re going forward in a direction, under control, headed somewhere.
