When we try to pray in power, we may be plagued by distracting thoughts. Is that what you’re experiencing when trying to pray? Here’s how to turn the problem into deeper unity with God by learning how to silence your inner self.

When we try to silence ourselves to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to us, in order to guide us or to answer our questions, what we need to do is surrender our attempts to control our thoughts. Turn your thoughts over into a song by praising the Lord through song, praying in tongues, or simply the Rosary, the Divine Mercy prayers, the Our Father prayer, or anything that you want to pray. Use the words that come to mind. Use the words that help you feel like you’re starting to pray, and then surrender.
